Every equipment failure has a technical explanation — the problem is that explanation is rarely in one place, and most of it doesn't exist in Portuguese.
That's why RELIABILITAS exists: a free, bilingual digital handbook of reliability engineering and industrial maintenance.
What you'll find here
- A handbook per asset: operating principle, key parts, main failure modes, and the most relevant brands/models on the market — with datasheets linked straight to the manufacturer's site.
- Every failure mode tied to a diagnosis and a recommended maintenance strategy, following a two-step method of its own.
- Three depth levels — from someone just studying the topic to someone who wants the physics and math behind the failure.
- A maintenance-strategy selector, reliability calculators, and more.
It's an open community project: content is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0 and the code under MIT — anyone can read, reuse, and contribute.
The mid-term vision is for RELIABILITAS to become a collective reference in reliability engineering — built WITH the community. You can already contribute today: submit your own article, or suggest a correction on any note in the collection, with credit guaranteed.
Who's behind it

Guilherme Joaquim Correia — mechanical engineer (CREA-SP, Brazil), with hands-on experience in industrial maintenance and planning.

The project started as personal research: gathering engineering and reliability sources, mapping isolated failure modes, trying to understand their behavior, and studying methodologies like RCM, FMEA, and RCFA — a whole world of content. An ongoing ABRAMAN certification was part of what sparked that deep dive.
From there came the idea of organizing all of it into structured material that anyone could use — not just me.
Sources are gathered and curated with AI support, but every piece of content is reviewed, edited, and expanded before it's published.
Every note accepts suggestions for technical, visual, or structural correction — and you can also propose new content.
Write, learn, teach — every contribution is credited to whoever wrote it.
How the site works
The collection is organized as a taxonomy: every equipment class and family has a seed note describing the group and the equipment that belongs to it.
Each piece of equipment has its own note detailing operating principle, main parts, and failure modes — one example is the Centrifugal Pump note.
Each failure mode, in turn, is also its own note — split into three reading levels: BEGINNER, SPECIALIST, and ENGINEER.
The whole collection follows two frameworks in sequence: first the diagnosis (failure rate pattern), then the prescription (maintenance decision logic).
The site also has reliability calculators built into the content.
