1. Terms of Use

RELIABILITAS is an open community project on industrial reliability and maintenance knowledge, sustained by the community and by donations. Access is always free, for anyone.

Content license — CC BY-SA 4.0

All editorial content (the technical notes in content/) is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0). You may copy, redistribute, and adapt any note, including for commercial purposes, as long as you credit RELIABILITAS and the original author with a link to the source note, and distribute any adaptation under this SAME open license — that ShareAlike clause is what guarantees the knowledge the community builds stays open for the community. Code license — MIT

The application's source code is open under the MIT license, in the same public repository as the content, on GitHub. Anyone may read, reuse, modify, and redistribute the code, with the sole requirement of keeping the copyright notice.

What you may do

• Read, copy, and redistribute any note in the archive, including commercially — CC BY-SA 4.0 allows it.
• Adapt, translate, remix, or build on top of the content, as long as you distribute the result under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license.

What is always required

• Credit RELIABILITAS and the note's original author, with a link to the source page, in any reuse.
• Do not present the content as your own original work, and do not remove the original attribution.

Technical disclaimer

The content is technical reference material, synthesized from standards and established literature (see "Sources" on each page) — it does not replace the judgment of a qualified engineer applied to your specific equipment and operating context. Maintenance decisions with safety, environmental, or production impact should always go through your own professional assessment. RELIABILITAS does not guarantee the content is error-free and is not liable for decisions made based on it.

Both submission surfaces on the site ("Suggest a correction" and "Contribute") are moderated: every submission is reviewed by a curator before any publication. No visitor-submitted content is published automatically — and once published, it falls under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license as the rest of the archive.

2. Privacy Policy

Short version: RELIABILITAS does not use cookies and does not collect personal data by default. The only personal information that exists is what you choose to provide, optionally, in the suggestion and contribution forms.

What we do NOT collect

• No tracking cookies or third-party analytics.
• No persistence across sessions in your browser — interface preferences (e.g., collapsed navigation tree) use sessionStorage, cleared when the tab closes.

What we collect, and why

"Suggest a correction" form: email (optional, only if you want a reply — never published) and, if you'd like credit, name, academic background, role/company, and LinkedIn/website — all optional.

"Contribute" form: the same optional identification fields (name, background, role/company, LinkedIn/website), plus the contribution's own content. On both forms, two checkboxes control how this information is used: one to indicate you want to be registered as a contributor, and a separate one to authorize this information to appear publicly on the note, if it's approved and published. Legal basis: consent (you provide it actively, knowing the purpose). Retention: kept while the suggestion/contribution is under review, or until you request removal via the contact below.

Important — part of this may become PUBLIC: if you check the "show this information" box and the correction or contribution is approved and published, the data you fill in (name, background, role/company, LinkedIn/website) may appear as a public byline on the note. Without checking that box, the information stays with the curator only — it's never published automatically.

IP address (technical, transient): automatically processed by infrastructure to (a) limit abusive attempts on the 2 forms and the admin login (rate limiting), and (b) log technical errors (Sentry), when configured. It is not tied to any profile nor stored in a user table — the attempt limiter keeps this in memory, without database persistence.

Infrastructure providers

The site runs on third-party infrastructure that processes technical operational data (never personal content beyond what is described above): Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Sentry (error logging, when configured), and Cloudflare (edge protection). The code and content are also publicly hosted on GitHub (open repository). Each provider operates under its own privacy policy.

Your rights

You may request, at any time, the deletion of any personal information you provided in a form — including removing your identification from an already-published note — or ask what we have associated with you, via the contact below.
